Description: The HMS Feeding Protocol For Expanding Repertoire of Picky Eaters and Children with ARFID is a course to educate Pediatric Speech Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists on how to treat picky eaters and children with mild oral phase dysphagia using Heidi Miller’s treatment method. Heidi’s method creates a client -centered safe environment for kids to confidently learn to explore new foods. The course teaches the clinician step by step the HMS Feeding protocol to treat picky eaters and children with ARFID. This process begins at the intake phone call to determine candidacy. Heidi demonstrates the HMS Feeding evaluation process. The course breaks down the structure of feeding therapy sessions. Various therapeutic techniques are demonstrated via clients and videos for a multitude of feeding challenges. The course also defines when it is appropriate to discharge a client from therapy. The HMS Feeding protocol demonstrates how the clinician can navigate challenging situations that may arise during feeding therapy and how to help gain the trust of the clients so that they can reach their fullest potential.

Heidi Miller, MS, CCC-SLP, COM®️ is a Speech Language Pathologist and Certified Orofacial Myologist and has been an actively practicing clinician for over 20 years. Though Heidi has worked in a multitude of settings, including private clinics, hospitals and schools, she found her home in her own practice in Florham Park, New Jersey. Heidi enjoys treating a variety of Speech Disorders including Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Feeding therapy has been a strong passion of Heidi’s since early in her career. Heidi's training in OMD's allows her to treat the pediatric feeding disorders population through an additional lens. Heidi has been a guest session speaker for the Talk Tools Feeding First Conference as well as a speaker for the OMD Deconstructed conference. Heidi also has courses offered through Speechpathology.com. Heidi published the HMS Feeding Protocol for Expanding Repertoire of Picky Eaters and Children with ARFID in December 2020. Heidi is married with three children, which helps her understand a parent’s perspective.
